Pass the Mashed Potatoes! (Terrifier 2 Review)

SPOILER ALERT!!!

After being sad that it didn't play in any theaters within a hundred mile radius of here, I finally got to watch Terrifier 2! This movie from beginning to end is absolutely brutal, and I can totally see why people with weak stomachs ran out of the theater and lost their popcorn. The use of practical effects brought all of it to life in a wonderfully gross way that I couldn't even imagine in my wildest nightmares. The only time I got a little squirrely is I was eating rice during a scene with maggots. Yuckkkkk! I love how we learned more about the lore of Art, but what we got was cryptic enough to get us still seeking for answers and sitting on the edge of our seats wanting a part 3.

We also really got to see a lot more of Art's idgaf and creepy but silly personality, which makes me just love the character even more. Mashed potatoes anyone? Sunflower glasses please? Those are just some of the best moments that in a still disturbing way add that comedic relief that every good horror movie has to break up the intensity.

The other great thing about this movie is that damn earworm song about the Clown Cafe. It's been stuck in my head since I heard it. This though leads me into another thing I really liked. This movie is very good at warping the viewer's sense of whats real and what isn't. That song was just in a dream right? But then it's being hummed by a character towards the end. Is the Clown Cafe a real place? Or just some fucked up figment of the protagonist's nightmares? The little girl was also seemingly only visible to Art, until later on. Is there some sort of bizzare familial link or something going on here? I'm dying to know.

And speaking of bizzare. That after credits scene. I totally did not see that coming, and completely threw me off when I thought I had things pretty well figured out. All I've got to say about that is "what the flying fuck?" but of course in a good way.

I enjoyed this movie so much!!!! I absolutely love it, and I can't wait for the next installment in Art.

Make sure you tune in on December first, we'll be interviewing Art himself, Mr.David Howard Thornton on Reaper's Underground, 8pm cst!
